The Gazebo Area
With the hot weather we decided to put up a 10 foot gazebo to give us a bit of shade. So this month things are moved around a bit. Still it's been great sitting under the gazebo in the evenings especially with the candles and the wine.......
First, it was the cats. Then it was the slugs and snails. I now have a new evil pest in my life to contend with and that is, the cabbage white butterfly. They are nasty little creatures and they look a lot like moths. They lay eggs in the brassicas and hatch tons of tiny green caterpillars that have been eating my brassica leaves and marigold leaves like crazy.
Simon now 'de caterpillars' the leaves every morning and every evening (while he's doing the slug run). Poor Simon...
This is the planter I showed last month I think with nearly nothing happening. Well, big change now. This is an 'all edible' organic plants planter. Like Willy Wonka, you can literrally eat anything and everything growing out of this one. Even my daughter loves eating the leaves!
The herb planters. We've cut alot off but I'd say they have done OK. It's not been a good year for basil or rosemary for us.
The golden mangetout has come and gone but the climbing french beans are up and away now!
